Conor Cahalane
Dr Conor Cahalane is a Chartered Surveyor and Associate Professor in Remote Sensing based at the Department of Geography, Maynooth University, Ireland. His background is in Geomatics, Applied Computing and Geocomputation and he employs satellite, airborne, UAV and mobile terrestrial remotely sensed data for map and infrastructure updates, coastal management, forestry and deriving near shore bathymetry. Conor is the Programme Chair of the MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing, the lead on the highly successful, national STEM outreach programme 5*S: Space, Surveyors and Students (https://5sdiscover.maynoothuniversity.ie) and is the current Secretary General for EuroSDR. Nationally he collaborates with the Society of Chartered Surveyors and the European Space Education Resource Office, promoting RS and EO in the Geomatics community and he is also affiliated with the National Centre for Geocomputation, the leading research centre in Ireland focussed on the capture, storage, analysis, and visualisation of spatial data.
