Artificial Intelligence for NMCAs

27 - 28 October 2022 (Leuven, Belgium)

National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) view Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an opportunity not a threat. This was a key takeaway from the first edition of the workshop on Artificial Intelligence for NMCAs jointly organised by EuroGeographics and EuroSDR in January 2021.

To truly be an opportunity NMCAs should not just make use of AI to enhance current products and processes, but also employ AI as a catalyst to becoming the innovative geospatial organisations of the future. To continue to serve the stakeholders and citizens as trusted public sector providers NMCAs need to anticipate, understand and meet their users’ future needs; proactively moving forward with new ideas and services while retaining users’ trust even if the data or services are produced using AI.

The second edition of this workshop aims to continue the conversation of AI within the context of NMCAs. By bringing together presentations and discussions about policy frameworks, research trends and experiences of implementing AI this event will focus on the role of AI on the business processes of European NMCAs.

The workshop is aimed at staff members of NMCAs and academic institutions with an interest in Artificial Intelligence in the geospatial sector.

The event will be organised as a hybrid event spread over two half-day sessions on the afternoon of 27 October and the morning of the 28 October 2022. The venue will be Leuven, Belgium (located just 25 kilometres East of Brussels). While it will be possible to follow presentations virtually, the breakout sessions will only be organised onsite. There is no cost to registering, note that places in Leuven are limited, and will be on a first-come basis. Please register your interest in participating in this event via this link.

Agenda will follow shortly.
